9. Parents are to monitor their children at all times. Children are not permitted outside the building during or after co-op without adult supervision. The parking lot can be a very dangerous place. Please be aware of ALL children, not just your own
10. All personal items brought from home should be labeled clearly for ALL students. This includes all backpacks, pencil boxes, coats, etc. Any personal items irrelevant to the class participation such as electronic games, trading cards, headsets, etc. must not accompany participants into the facility. (Laptops and cell phones allowed for parents ONLY, please).
11. Parents must read “class requirements” and purchase all necessary texts, materials and other specified items prior to the start of classes.
12. Only registered, paid students or parents will be allowed at PAHSG. If you have children in public or private school who are out of school, they may not attend.

2. Find your own substitute (from the volunteer list) and provide a quality substitute lesson plan
3. At least two (2) adults should be in the class at all times
4. Prepare a class description and a semester syllabus for each class you are teaching.
5. Please ask students to address you as Mr. and Mrs. And first or last name.
6. Be willing to communicate with parents regarding their child’s progress and behavior while in your class.
7. The teacher is expected to:
-Prepare handouts and print copies before the day of class as we do not have access to a copier.
-Arrive a few minutes early to set up and to ensure that someone is present when students arrive.
-Maintain order and focus in the class and avoid side conversations with the assistants.
-Be alert to help students who may have trouble but may be too shy to ask for help.
-Start class on time. Do not wait for latecomers.
-Clean up. Please be sure your area is the way it was, if not better than, when class started and do not leave or allow students to leave until cleaning is complete. Help put away craft supplies, lab materials, and toys; return tables and chairs to their original positions; put debris in the trash; wipe tables and sweep if necessary, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF TEACHER'S HELPER
1. If a helper must be absent, she must find someone to substitute. The Leadership Team is not responsible for finding a replacement.
2. Helpers are expected to:
-Fill in when the teacher is absent.
-Help the teacher gather supplies, implement lessons and handle discipline.
-Participate actively in class and avoid side conversations with the assistants.
-Assist students who need extra help.
-Help the teacher keep track of time
-Clean up. Please be sure the room is the way it was, if not better than, when class started and do not leave or allow students to leave until cleaning is complete. Help put away craft supplies, lab materials, and toys; return tables and chairs to their original positions; put debris in the trash; wipe tables and sweep if necessary, etc.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Be on time.
2. Be prepared.
3. Walk do not run. There will be absolutely no yelling.
4. Honor parents and teachers by addressing them as Mr. and Mrs. And the name they want to be called by.
5. Be respectful of others and their property. Keep hands and feet to yourself.
6. Be respectful of the church property. Failure to respect the host facility can result in discipline from the Board and possible dismissal.
7. Complete class requirements and cooperate with teachers at all times. Due to the nature of the “every other week” classes, it is imperative that students stay current with their assignments. Students are also responsible for class material missed in the event of absence. It is the responsibility of the student and/or parent to contact teachers in the event of a sudden absence to find out about any material missed and catch up with missed material prior to the next meeting date. Late or missing assignments put extra burdens on the teachers, allow the student to fall behind, and are an inefficient use of the time and energy for both the student and teacher. The following policy is used for missing assignments: First missing or late assignment: teacher notifies and informs parent via e-mail; Second missing or late assignment: teacher notifies and informs parent via telephone; Third missing or late assignment: teacher notifies parent and the board, at which point the Board will determine necessary action between parent/student/teacher.
8. Students are expected to encourage and support one another in a gracious and loving environment. No name calling or destructive comments toward one another will be tolerated.
9. Students who disregard any classroom expectation are to be dealt with immediately. Teachers are to quickly remind student of proper classroom behavior, no matter what the offense.
10. No gum allowed.
11. No cell phones, other electronic games/equipment, or personal items such as trading cards, headsets, etc. should be brought to class unless approved by the teacher. Each teacher reserves the right to confiscate any such items until the end of classes should this policy be violated.
DISCIPLINE POLICY
"If your brother sins against you go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.' If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector" (Matthew 18:15-17).
Parents are responsible for their children at all times, and it is their duty to handle any misbehavior.
In cases of inappropriate behavior, these steps will be taken by the teacher:
1.For the first offense, the teacher will give the student a verbal warning.
2. For the second offense, the teacher or a helper will take the student to his parent for five minutes or send the student to the quiet zone. In the latter case, the teacher will inform the parent and a member of the Leadership Team that afternoon of the circumstances involved.
3. If the inappropriate behavior continues, the teacher will notify the Leadership Team so that the issue can be discussed again with the parents.
4. If the situation still does not improve, the Leadership Team will notify the parents that the student is suspended from co-op. The student may return to co-op after proper apology and restitution is made.
5. If behavior problems persist, the student will be expelled from co-op for the remainder of the semester.
Parents and students in grades 6-12 sign an agreement to attend diligently, be on time, participate willingly, and bring all completed assignments and required materials to each class. Please be aware that teachers may send students who are late, disruptive, disrespectful or unprepared for class to the quiet zone or to their parent. This is as much a respect issue for the teacher and the child's fellow classmates as it is an academic issue.
ILLNESS POLICY
Participants should not attend co-op if they are sick or are experiencing any of the following symptoms:
1. Colored mucus
2. Diarrhea, vomiting or nausea (within last 24 hours)
3. Eye drainage
4. Virus or infection (known to be contagious)
5. Rashes (contagious)
6. Head lice
7. Fever (within last 24 hours - undedicated) should there be any questions, the teacher of the class or head teacher keep in mind that this policy is essential for the health and protection of all of our children and families.
CARE OF THE BUILDING & SAFETY
Students should take personal pride in caring for the church at all times. They can assist those who clean each week by using waste baskets and garbage cans for the disposal of waste materials; by refraining from getting pencil marks and finger prints on walls; by keeping the tops of desks and tables in good condition; by picking up paper that is lying around; and on rainy days by making sure their shoes have no mud on them before coming in the building. These things are not difficult to do and would be greatly appreciated. Be a good citizen. Heely-type wheeled shoes are not to be used in the building.
COMMUNICATIONS
Group Email is the most affordable and accurate way to communicate all sorts of information to our Precious Angels families. Many helpful and informative emails come out and you don’t want to miss out! If you are not receiving the Group Email and would like to be, contact Tabitha Jernigan at tabby@dishmail.net and request to be added to the list. Please let us know if your information changes at any time during the school year.
Family Folders and Teacher Folders are one of our most valuable communication tools. Please check your blue folders each week before you leave. Feel free to leave communications for teachers in their red folders as well.] BEHAVIORAL POLICY:
- Returning students to welcome new students warmly.
- Students to make every effort never to exclude others.
- If you have a problem with someone, talk to him/her first. If you talk to someone else first, you are gossiping. Unfortunately, personality conflicts and misunderstandings can happen. Though rare, it is important we agree on how to deal with these situations before they arise. We’ve chosen to base the structure of this policy on Matthew 18:15-20 and the spirit of this policy on 1 Corinthians 4:21. Many disputes/differences can be properly resolved by overlooking an offense and forgiving the person who has offended. Because of this, we ask that you pray about the issue to decide if it is important enough to deem confrontation. If, after prayer, God gives you the peace to dismiss the issue, then it is passed and forgotten and is NOT to be discussed with others. If, however, after prayer, you feel the offense must be addressed, the offended party must first seek to resolve conflict between the two individuals involved. If either party is unsatisfied or a resolution cannot be met, they must seek the assistance of an objective party (typically a member of the leadership team) to mediate. As a last resort, the conflict will be taken to the other members of the leadership team, and they will make the final decision.
- No foul or cruel language
- We do not intend to mirror the public school image of discipline. We as parents are responsible for our child’s behavior during class. Please note that each teacher will have her own classroom expectations. It is therefore the responsibility of the teacher to establish those expectations at the beginning of the school year and for the students to adhere to them.
- Bringing tobacco or alcohol in any form on church property will mean dismissal from classes. Smoking anywhere is prohibited. Tobacco and/or alcohol in any form will not be tolerated.
- No taking God’s name in vain.
- No pocketknives or weapons of any kind will be tolerated.
- Students, teachers, and parents should be respectful towards each other. This is not only our rule but required of all of us by God. Threats made by students against other students or teachers will not be tolerated. Teachers are figures of authority and in that position should be honored and respected by all students and parents.
DRESS CODE:
1. Modesty is our main objective.
2. No tight clothing
3. No bare skin showing at midriffs
No sheer clothing
No body piercing (other than ears)
No tank tops
4. No short skirts or short shorts
No hats of any form in the building
Note: If the parent has any question as to whether his/her child is dressed appropriately, please have them change to another outfit. Classes only meet one day every other week. Appropriate dress for school is a mark of pride in yourself and your group.
With education in a Christian atmosphere, discipline is not confined to mere control, nor should it be equated to punishment. Instead of being negative, Christian discipline is positive because it makes a contribution to Christian character and conduct. When a student is in association with high ideals and values, and Christ-like attitudes, he learns to evaluate his own attitudes and
conduct in the light of these criteria. In the classroom situation, order is necessary for the teaching-learning process to be effective. The student's knowledge of accepted behavior should be the means of control.
LUNCH POLICY
Food brought to the co-op should be as simple and easy to clean up as possible. Bagged or packaged lunches are recommended. All food is to be confined to the Fellowship Hall area. Each member is responsible to set up and clean up their own eating areas. All conduct during lunch time is to comply with proper respectful behavior. Students are expected to behave responsibly at all times, realizing that any conduct to the contrary may result in the loss of such privileges
STATEMENT OF FAITH
All members are required to agree with, and sign, the statement of faith
BOARD OF REPRESENTATIVES2008-09
The Board of Representatives will represent the members of the co-op. They will vote to determine new policies and to revise current policies.
